Faction Balance
Hello everyone,
due to the recent faction imbalance issues resulting in problems with battleground queues and alike, we have decided to temporary put following 2 rules in place:
- faction change via tokens and donations from Horde to Alliance is disabled
- it will be no longer possible to change faction of transferred horde char to alliance (however, you still can transfer alliance chars without faction change)
These rules are valid until further notice.
We also encourage all new players to choose horde side. You will get much lower BG waiting times
http://www.gamingconsortium.org/server/charts.php
In addition, we're adjusting the rates in Auction House. Auction deposit and auction win price cut has been lowered by 50%, while the duration of auction was doubled. There has never been a better time to use AH!
We hope these changes will help the game balance

Server software change
Dear community,
As you may already noticed active development on all fronts is stalling from some time. There are many reasons contributing to this and GC Staff being busy in real life is only one of them. Main project, which we based our server (Mangos) on, is sadly slowly deceasing. There are still some very active developers but their numbers are going down rapidly because noone wants to keep contributing to a project without active community support. This is also the case with us so we made the decision that it's time to move on once again.
What emulator you plan to base GC on now?
After doing some research we decided the best choice will be Trinity. It is the most active and developed project at this point. It is also based on Mangos which will hopefully make the transition very smooth.
Will GC lose all nice fixes made so far? What about instance scripts?
We decided that it will be best to just start fresh and work our way from there. We will port majority of important code, such as instance scripts, quests, custom code that is used to provide our daily support to you, code that is easier to be ported than completely redone, etc.
What works better on Trinity than on GC and what works worse?
That's exactly a matter of our investigation and testing process. Your best shot is to ask your friends, or a GC newcommers from other servers that are based on Trinity, what bugs should we be aware of and need an urgent fix, which features need to be copied from GC into Trinity (difficulty of this process varies from fairly easy to damn impossible), and what new working things to look forward. Maybe the transferred players can share their opinion with us in this thread?
How do you plan to handle the transition?
We plan to replace our Mangos test server with Trinity, open a new project at bugtracker and with your help we can start testing, making reports and start providing the required fixes.
How much time will this process take?
Noone can say exactly as this is a huge task. The more people involved, the faster it will go. We hope you will help us once again and as soon as all the necessary code porting is done, a nice and stable version is prepared, a full switch on live server to Trinity can occur.
How this is going to affect future development?
The affect will be nothing but positive. We will have once again a stable, consistent and very active core development (Trinity project team), huge community helping out with various fixes and improvements and none the last a reason for us to be more active.
Will this affect me in a negative way as a player?
We will run many tests and as always make sure everything is done properly so there wont be any issues with your characters during the switching process. Initially not everything will work as it used to be, some features may not be fully functional for certain period of time, but there will not be a wipe. We want to preserve as much from your characters as possible. In ideal case you will not even notice anything, in worst case you may lose some mails, auctions or pets.
Can i help you guys somehow?
You can help in many ways. Testing things on test server and making bug reports in bugtracker, making sure our website is fully functional after the switch is done, trying to locate gamebreaking issues, provide useful information which we can use, etc.
Where and how can i report issues and bugs?
All you have to do is:
- Login to our test server, change your realmlist in: set realmlist gamingconsortium.org
- Check what things aren't working or still need to be transferred from old core (live server) to new core (test server).
- Login to our Bugtracker and switch to (in the upper right of page) "GC Trinity" project:
If you don't know how to use the bugtracker, there is a guide here (do not forget to switch to "GC Trinity" project as shown above).
Also it would be nice to track current TrinityCore revision while you are reporting a bug, you can get it at Test Server Status page, where there is the "TrinityCore Revision" link: just copy the url and paste it in the description of your report.
This is an example of a good report.
Tips&Recommendations:
- Do NOT use tickets to report any bugs, use bugtracker instead.
- If you need to clean your spells, you can use command ".reset spell"
- When you test melee/ranged damage use a weapon that deals 1-2 damage, not a weapon that deals 1500-2000 damage (unmodified). Such a huge range makes the testing immensely inaccurate. Rather get a lvl 1 weapon and get tons of AP, so that the 1-2 is like 1000-1001.. then u can even test a 1% damage increase talents
- For spells damage done/taken use frostbolt of ages (.learn 11). It should deal exactly 1000 damage without any modifiers, has no gcd, no cast time and can be cast even on friendly and self
- For the DK testers who want to go outside the starting area, you need to do ".gm on" before using ".tele dalaran". without gm mode you cant get out of the starting area before completing the questchain. BUT be sure to disable gm mode again before testing anything (.gm off) cause it can break many things too.
Thanks for your understanding. We hope this change will improve your experience on GamingConsortium

Delay problems
As you may know, the server has an issue with small delay happening after a long uptime. With opening of ToC, the uptime needed for delay to appear has been greatly lowered. In order to confirm our suspicion that it's caused by instances, we will disable all instances for tuesday and wednesday 14.2.-15.2.. Based on the observed results we'll take further measures to pinpoint the source of this bug.

Algalon & emblem changes

Good news to all the raiders.
The hardcore individuals from you may be happy looking forward new challenge - Algalon the Observer, supposedly the toughest guy in Ulduar. He will be available, as usual, from friday for raid time.
After a lasting suggestion from players and discussion among staff, we have decided the following:
- ony25/toc25/toc25h will drop 3x
- toc10h 2x
- toc10/ony10 1x
- first random daily heroic will give 1x
- all "lower" content (ulduar, naxx, os, eoe, heroics) will drop
- daily dungeon quests will give 1x
- weekly raid quests are now available and are rewarding 10x
In addition daily heroic quests will be removed (we are trying to fix the RDF reward issue for all instances).
